These events place Mexico as an attractive and competitive country, whose efforts position it among the top vehicle manufacturers in Latin America, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA).
According to José Zozaya, Executive President of the Mexican Automotive Industry Association, “nearshoring opens up the possibility of reducing production times and costs, which is why in a recovery stage as important as the one we are currently in, it is a priority on the agenda of North America as a region. In addition, taking advantage of the potential that the T-MEC gives us, it privileges us as a region to position ourselves as a regional bloc in global manufacturing trade, in order to alleviate disruptions in supply chains as soon as possible.”
The automotive industry serves as one of the main pillars of Mexico’s economy. Agility, efficiency and speed have become its virtues, as well as its greatest challenges, given the advent of the internet of things.
